Handmade Card with Foil Paper

Today we are making a handmade card with foil paper, it's stunning and I can't wait for you to see it and try it yourself!  This card is so easy and so pretty 🙂

Before we talk about cutting it, let me share it with you.

Look how pretty that is!  LOVE IT!  It comes in three colors, Pretty Peacock, Old Olive, and Blueberry Bushel.

The Project

Here is the card we will be making today.  Simple and stunning all in one 🙂

The Making of our Handmade Card with Foil Paper

For your foil paper, you only need to use a small piece that is 1-1/2″ x 5-1/4″.  So you will have a lot left over for other projects.

Now you need to decide what shape you want behind your sentiment layer.  I didn't want such soft curves, like a scallop would give me, but I also didn't want another circle behind it.  So I went with the Starburst punch.  Because I went with that punch, I wanted my border behind my foil paper to match.  It wouldn't look great to have the pinked edge behind the sentiment and then scallops behind the foil, right?  Keep that in mind when you go to make your card if you choose something other than the starburst punch.

Story Time… I have my grandma's pinking shears.  They are a heavy duty pair that she took great care of.  She used them all the time for her sewing projects.  Now before you freak out, I didn't use her scissors on my card stock!  However, as I used my cheaper pair of pinking shears, I thought of my grandma and sitting with her sewing and creating.  It's amazing how many memories come up when you are making cards!

Once you know what you are using, add a strip with the edge you decided on, then add a strip of Smoky Slate card stock with that edge behind your patterned paper.  While it may not look like much, that little touch adds so much to your card.  Both of these layers will go onto a Whisper White panel (4″ x 5-1/4″) and then onto your Basic Black card base (5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″).

Now we just need to create our tag layers.  We start with a piece of Basic Black that is 2″ x 3-3/4″.  Then slide one end of the card stock into your Banner Triple Punch to create your banner on one end.  This punch is really cool as you can create banners from card stock that is 1″ up to 2″ quickly.

Then it's time to stamp our sentiment in Pretty Peacock ink on Whisper White card stock.  Then punch it out with your 2″ Circle Punch.

Layer this onto a piece of punched Pretty Peacock.  Assemble your tag layers together and then add them onto your card.  Finish with a bow tied in White Baker's Twine.  I used a dot of liquid glue to add the the bow to the card.

Ta-Da!  That's all there is to making this handmade card with foil paper!
