Today I am sharing with you some cool and fun Things You Might Have Missed from the Holiday Catalog Stampin' Up! just released a couple of days ago. Hopefully by now you've had a chance to pore over it and check out all the brand new stamp sets, Bundles and everything else inside. But every year I spot Things You Might Have Missed and I don't want people to miss out on one speck of fun stuff. So here we go!

  • Almost hidden on page 5 is the AMAZING Quilt Top Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Why they didn't feature this more highly I will never know but this folder is fantastic! It provides a very pretty all-over texture mean to mimic what quilters often do after piecing their projects together to provide uniformity. If you look really closely at the Old Olive sample below the folder you can see the design. It's gorgeous and will be that perfect addition to pah-lenty of non- quilt cards!
  • On the next page, check out that cute little pine bough from the Christmas Staircase Thinlits Die set – when I first saw it I wondered why there was seaweed on a Christmas page!
  • Turn to page 10 and look at the first greeting card on the jute garland. Notice how they added a line of the Foam Adhesive Strips between the moon and stars cutout and the trees below. GENIUS! This way you can make both areas sparkle without having to FILL the card!
  • The Merry Little Labels set on page 12 is super cute for the holidays but many of the stamps can be used year round; omit the holly and berries on the For/From stamp and the “from the North Pole” on the Special Delivery stamp and those two plus the No Peeking and the Just For You Stamps can be used anytime.
  • Have you ever used the Memories and More (formerly Project Life by Stampin' Up!) Card Packs to make cards? Well, for $10 you get 72 panels that you can use to make your Christmas cards in a true snap. Grab the Merry Little Christmas and Quilted Christmas card stock packs, a basic holiday greeting stamp set, some envelopes and some adhesive and you've got this year's cards D-O-N-E!
  • Where can you turn a sock into a gift package? On page 15 – just cut out a stocking, flip the die to cut the “top” right before the heel and you've got a larger pillow box for year round gift giving!
  • Punch a bunch of glimmery circles and dot up an acetate box for some keepsake packaging like they did on page 20. Got kids? Put them to work punching and take all the credit!
  • Debating the Musical Instruments Framelits Dies? Take the Lute, turn it upside down and you can make shaker baby rattles for your New Baby cards.
  • Remember that Staples ad where the parents are singing “It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year” when their kids are getting on the school bus? That's all I could think of when I saw the greeting in the Brightly Lit Christmas set on page 29! I LOVE that set of Framelits because there are three different banners there that I can use with a ton of greetings, I can use the gifts for birthday and anniversary cards (I mean, really, how many candles and balloons can I use?) and that lamp post can be totally turned into something spooky!
  • Check out the teeny tiny punchies made by the Ornamental Christmas Framelits set – if you are a shaker card nut how stickin' ADORABLE would these be in a card?
  • Please do NOT miss the absolutely gorgeous Year of Cheer Specialty Washi Tape on page 36 – it is absolutely breath taking in real life! If you are looking for ALL your metallics – copper, gold and silver – all in one product this is it!
  • Also on page 36, as I mentioned here, these snowflakes are also just gorgeous. And look over there on page 35 – see the “Joy” card? They cut those big beauties into small pieces and the impact of them is not diminished one tiny bit.
  • On pages 44 and 45 – where you will also find the already-flying-out-the-door mini pizza boxes (I warned people!), The Little Things and the Festive Phrases stamp sets were created to work with 3 X 3 mini cards just to fit inside these boxes. Some of the stamps in those two sets can also work year round.
  • Merry Cafe on page 46 was created to go with the Coffee Cafe stamp set and the Coffee Cups Framelits in the big catalog. Lots of the stamps in Merry Cafe can be used throughout the year and this motif – coffee and tea – is actually pretty handy for making masculine cards!
  • On page 54, halfway down the page, take a good look at that gray tag – that's made from PART of the gate from the Detailed Gate Thinlits Dies set. Super clever! And while that gate is well suited to the spooky aspects of Halloween, it's an absolutely beautifully detailed piece. I plan to cut it in shimmery white and use it for a wedding card and am thinking of other ways I can incorporate something with so much detail into other projects.

There are some Things You Might Have Missed!  Be sure to let me know if you have any questions about all the goodies in this Holiday Catalog Stampin' Up! is showing off and check back tomorrow for a fun project and then on Tuesday for the Eight Weeks of Halloween Kickoff!
