How to Decorate and Repurpose a Gift Box in an Easy Way
Decorating and repurposing a box into a gift box is easy and fun to do! Today I am going to show you a quick and easy way to do this.
For this one, we are going to start with a box that has a clear sleeve to it. They are the Tag a Bag Gift Boxes from Stampin’ Up! These are great little boxes to use for gifts, but also to organize little trinkets or paper crafting supplies (Washi Tape fits in there perfectly!)
To start out, measure the sides of your box. If you are using the Tag a Bag Gift Boxes from Stampin’ Up!, you will want to strips of 2-1/8” x 9-1/4” of patterned paper. For this one, I chose the Polka Dot Parade patterned paper. Starting on the edge of one of the short sides, adhere the patterned paper and wrap around to the long side. Repeat with your second piece.
That’s it for the box, now it is time for the clear sleeve. It started with the yellow polka dots (3” x 10”), you do want a little overlap. And then repeat with a 1” strip of Whisper White. Then you can wrap a ribbon around the sleeve as well. I decided to have the ribbon start and end on top since I knew I would get it covered up with my tag.
For the tag, I started with the flowers. I wanted to stamp some of the patterns onto Whisper White and some onto card stock. The Flower Shop stamp set and Pansy Punch made quick work of that. One stamped in Rich Razzleberry, one in Tempting Turquoise. Then Real Red stamped onto Real Red and Daffodil Delight onto Daffodil Delight. These were all punched out using the Pansy Punch.
Then it is onto the tag:
The tag was die cut using the Chalk Talk Framelits. And the sentiment comes from the … stamp set. But I didn’t want the heart inked up, so I used my Real Red marker to just ink up the words and stamped those. Once the tag was on the gift box, it blended in. But it needed to pop a little more. So I used a scrap of Real Red and the same framelit, cut it and layered it underneath the left hand side.
To finish off the project, I added the Large Rhinestones into the center of each flower and this project was done! It is all ready for when I need to give a little gift of thanks.
